Every so often we get recommendations from readers to try a foodie place they love. So, when Rosa’s was suggested, our graphic designer Richard’s arm was first in the air.
Here Richard tells us about his experience on a balmy, typically Thai evening in our Welsh capital.
How were you greeted?
On arrival we were welcomed immediately and shown to our table.
What did you think of the ambience/décor?
The interior was clean and simple with some stylish touches, greenery behind the bar added some freshness to the room. The blue, green and wood colour scheme created a warm atmosphere.
Who did you go with?
I went with my father and his partner, there was supposed to four of us but my sister had to go to hospital – more food for me…
What did you think of the menu?
The menu is everything you expect with a few surprises. Perfect variety of menu items if you have or haven’t eaten at a Thai restaurant before.
What did you order?
Honey-Marinated Pork Skewers
King Prawn Stir Fried Flat Noodles
Stir Fried Vermicelli Noodles
Rosa’s Red Pineapple Curry
Rosa’s Green Curry
Rosa’s Red Curry
Egg Fried Rice
Mango and sticky rice
Chocolate fondant and ice cream
Coconut Island Daiquiri
Boozy Thai Iced Tea
Kopiko Espresso Martini
Boozy Lemongrass & Pandan Iced Tea
What was the background music like?
Very quiet, almost like there wasn’t any.
Please sum up your food?
Every dish we ordered was packed full of flavour and freshness. Not a scrap of food was left.
What was the drinks menu like and what did you order?
Good choice of beers, wine and cocktails. Our list, I mentioned earlier.
Did you enjoy the desserts?
Oh yes, mango and sticky rice, chocolate fondant and ice cream. Both were a big thumbs up.
How do you rate the overall experience?
As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed and shown to our table, atmosphere was pleasant, service friendly and efficient The food was the stand out experience, freshness and taste of all the dishes were on point.
Were the staff attentive?
From when we arrived until we left the staff were friendly and always make sure we had drinks. Service was quick and always accompanied by a smile.
Did you think it was value for money?
The food was very good value for money, but I think we spent more money on cocktails than food (not complaining).
What did you think were the stand out dishes that you’d definitely order again?
I love sweet and savoury dishes, so the Rosa’s Red Pineapple Curry was a huge hit for me. That, combined with the sticky rice, meant I was in heaven.
Would you recommend the restaurant to others?
Absolutely, I have already made plans to go back again.
