Having been born in Sorrento and worked for many years in the family delicatessen on Corso Italia, Massimo Fraioli collaborated with his friends, Gaetano Monteriso (a talented chef from Naples with a passion for authentic avours), and award winning Head Chef Gianni (previously worked in ve star hotels in Sorrento, Rome and Switzerland), to create a restaurant that brings the authentic avours of the Sorrentine Peninsula to the very heart of the Cardiff.
I Giardini di Sorrento when translated means “The Garden of Sorrento”, with its’ Piazza Tasso on the ground oor, and its’ ‘Giardini’ on the rst oor with a total 70 covers welcomes any celebration big or small, and can even cater for external events if booked in advance.
One of their signature dishes is the lled ravioli with choices such as salmon, sea bass & hake, chicken, lobster, or even duck & pear. However, when you visit don’t forget to seek out their ‘Specials Board’, that highlights seasonal dishes available, such as Lobster, T-Bone Welsh Steak, Home- made Green Basil Pasta, Sea Bass, Black Squid ink Spaghetti and Wild Boar or Venison Ragu.
Just when you think it can’t get better you are given an array of home-made desserts that may include a traditional mascarpone tiramisu, cheesecake made with three cheeses, rum baba, delizia al limone and if you’re lucky even a cannoli with ricotta and pear. I Giardini di Sorrento’s dream of bringing Italy to South Wales certainly has been achieved.
