The venue, on Cardiff’s Mill Lane, is the perfect spot to take a break from shopping and watch the world pass by while you discover the bold Latin flavours.

The menu is carefully developed and served by a team of skilled chefs who cook all the dishes from scratch; discover the unique flavours from across Latin America, they are brought to life using high quality, fresh ingredients.

The latest menu additions are no exception. The luscious new Ipanema Mussels – cooked in a lightly spiced lime, coriander and coconut sauce, paired with soft ciabatta, a dish guaranteed to tantalise your taste buds. The Seco de Cordero is also a personal favourite – Peruvian style slow-cooked lamb shank in a golden ale, red wine and Amarillo chilli sauce, served with roasted sweet potato mash and crispy chilli and onions; it’s a meat lover’s dream. For those who prefer the greener things then Las Iguanas Vegetarian Society approval will excite you, and with a new attraction, the Cauliflower and Corn Quinotto – a perfectly cooked Peruvian-style quinoa risotto with smoked cheese, roasted cauliflower and charred baby corn, topped with puffed quinoa and crispy chilli.

Room for dessert? You can continue your journey through the Latin continent with a Banana Empanada; a traditional pastry filled with banana, sweet plantain and delectable dulce de leche. Served with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of rum-flavoured syrup, I suggest you wipe that dribble from your chin! If the taste of the tropics is your thing, the Piña Colada Mess will please your taste buds; Piña Colada ice cream served with caramelised pineapple salsa, crispy pineapple pieces and toasted coconut chips… You’ll be daydreaming of Copacabana.

You can’t experience South America without savouring a sweet cocktail! Las Iguanas have turned Happy Hour into ‘Happy Days’ with all cocktails now available 2 for 1 ALL day, EVERY day. They have a vast top shelf of premium spirits, including their own award-winning artisan Magnifica cachaça distilled by the de Faria family near Rio. This is the key ingredient in the famous Brazilian cocktail the Caipirinha. We got a try at making a Caiprinhaourselves; sugar and lemon juice muddled together over crushed ice, topped with the tasty cachaça spirit to bring a beautiful blend of flavours together in a Latin partnership. There is something for everyone, with 14 newbies on the list. A candidate for my all time favourite was the Latin take on an all-tine classic; a ‘Golden’ Porn Star Martini, compromising Gosling’s Gold Rum, apricot, Funkin passion fruit, vanilla and pineapple with a shot of cava.

There are also plenty of non-alcoholic cocktails and soft drinks on the menu. Las Iguanas are committed to only give out plastic straws on request for most drinks, as they commit to reducing usage and environmental impact.
