We’re regulars at Honest Burger in Cardiff. It’s one of the few chains we frequent regularly. Personal favourite is the Cardiff Burger and, occasionally, they’ll throw a curve ball (or burger) into the mix and produce a special. In this case it was the New Orleans.
Now I’m not a huge fan of overly spicy food but this was just the right amount of heat. Just imagine: free-range buttermilk chicken thigh, candied bacon, American cheese, ‘chow chow’ green tomato relish, Bull’s-Eye Louisiana Chipotle hot sauce, ranch mayo and lettuce. You get the picture.
The burger is priced at £14 and includes Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips as standard. We do love those – plenty of bits, like your favourite chippy. Word of advice… they are quite salty, so taste before seasoning. We also couldn’t resist a cheeky onion rings starter. They’re huge – we love them with a dash of mayo.
Anyway, like all their burgers, the New Orleans was a hot hit. No surprise really, they really did hit the ground cooking when they first opened and the standard has remained the same. We love the jam jar drinks glasses too – nice touch.
Nope, whatever the specials are at Honest you should certainly give them a go (remember the Brother Thai?). They’re hot stuff. Well, the New orleans was anyway. Personally I think they should keep it on the regular menu. It is that good.
