Nicola travelled to Birmingham first class to Birmingham by train an enjoyed an overnight stay at The Grand Hotel Birmingham and an unforgettable ‘Spice up your Life’ bottomless brunch at Tonight Josephine. It’s time to swing it, shake it, move it and make it with … Tonight Josephine, Birmingham! Here’s what Nicola had to say about their experience.
How was your trip up to Birmingham?
First class is definitely the way to go. It was relaxing and enjoyable.
What was The Grand Hotel like? Describe the hotel briefly and what your room was like.
The hotel was beautiful and had a stunning grand entrance. The building had fabulous architecture. I particularly loved the amazing staircase and, of course, had to take a few photos on them! The bedrooms were very plush. I loved the touch of Molton Brown toiletries. Very classy! I always notice the décor and cleanliness of any hotel I stay in and have to say, The Grand Hotel was spotlessly clean! There’s nothing worse than a dribble for a shower. Not so here, hot and forceful. Just perfect.
We were lucky enough to have a room with a fabulous view too. We couldn’t fault it. It’s all about the staff though isn’t it? And the staff were so pleasant and helpful. At one point, I locked myself out the of the room and they were quick to sort out the problem (and didn’t judge!).
The breakfast was lovely and there was lots of choice. The bar was very relaxing with excellent customer service. All of the staff were 100% client focused. We would definitely return.
Describe the bottomless brunch at Tonight Josephine. What was included?
We had a glass of fizz on arrival, jugs of cocktails on the table and a selection of burgers. Carby food is just what you need to mop up the alcohol! They also catered for vegans so that was good. The food was really tasty and hot. The chips were especially tasty.
What did you wear?
I wore one of my pink maxi dresses. They’re flying out of the boutique. It’s a maxi wrap style which is very flattering for most figures, especially if you’ve got boobs and a bum. It suits the curvy figure. The dress code was anything from sexy (for the one ones) to smart casual for more mature clientele. Everyone made the effort to dress up. It was lovely to be out out again after having stayed in for so long thanks to Covid.
Did you enjoy the company on the night?
The company was fabulous. All the girls were very interactive and chatty. There was a fantastic atmosphere and we and everyone in the venue were made to feel very inclusive. The atmosphere was very upbeat and lively. Everyone was in a good mood. There was lots of infectious laughter and lots of fun. It would be a brilliant event for a group of girls wanting a great night out. Groups of friends, hen dos especially.
It was entitled Spice up Your Life. How did the Spice Girls theme work?
Just brilliant. There were lots of props to get you in the mood – perfect for photos for the Instagrammers. There were two drag queens and a lesbian (her words not mine!) singing spiked songs. They were really good. The artistes were very professional, and I’ve seen a lot of drag artists, so I know what I’m talking about! I love drag! There was lots of audience participation and inclusion. A lot of thought had been put into the event to make sure everyone had a great time.
They have a Tonight Josephine coming to Cardiff soon. Would you go?
Absolutely. It would be perfect for a friend’s hen party or just a group of us girls who want to go out, feel safe and have a great time. Count me in!
