Capital Chauffeurs – a capital idea!
As a regular flier from Cardiff International Airport, it came as a bit of a shock when we had to fly from Gatwick for a holiday.
The thought of driving three and a half hours didn’t fill my husband with joy, especially as we had a very early start.What to do? I’d heard of Capital Chauffeurs through a business colleague and thought I’d give them a call to see what could be done. I left a message and owner of the business, Richard Francis gave me a call back within the hour. He sounded like a personable chap, someone I wouldn’t mind spending three and a half hours with (in a professional manner of course!).
Perhaps most importantly, he assured me that he would be reliable, that his vehicle would be clean and roadworthy and that he had all the insurances should anything go wrong. Weighing up the cost of the service against diesel, cost of parking up the car for a week and, taking into account the stress factor, we decided to book him there and then.
The ungodly hour didn’t put Richard off in the slightest; he merely said that the roads would be quieter which would make for a smoother journey. He arrived on the dot at our home and carried most of the luggage. I felt a bit guilty as my husband works out a lot and is a fair bit younger than Richard, but he wouldn’t hear of any offer of help. He’d mentioned that he’d spent much of his younger days in the services, which would have accounted for his fitness.
We settled into the very comfortable seats of the immaculate Mercedes Viano, which was equipped with all of the latest gadgets and off we set. The ride was smooth and Richard had provided us with comfortable blankets and even offered us the morning papers and those lovely travel sweets that you get from Marks & Spencer. Mmmm! We reached Gatwick in plenty of time and after Richard again sorted out our luggage, he bade us a cheery happy holiday and he was on his way.
On our journey home, I made a quick call to Richard to let him know when the flight was due in (he already knew this anyway but said it was good to hear from me!) and he would be there in good time to pick us up outside the terminal building.
Would we book Capital Chauffeurs again? Yes, no question. Next time, we’ll get the sweets, although I expect Richard would have that covered!
