City Life talks to diamond specialist Roger Williams of The Jewellery Studio in Pontcanna about the latest trend for engagement and wedding rings that are...
MADE FOR EACH OTHER
A carefully designed engagement ring will enable classic styles of wedding bands to fit snugly against them. The Jewellery Studio offers a range of rings designed to fit together in platinum or 18ct gold. We talk to owner Roger Williams.
You have a reputation as one of the
area's finest jewellery designers and diamond experts
I offer excellent advice based on my knowledge gained over many years in the business. I am as enthusiastic now as I ever was. The designs that I create follow fashion trends and whether customers are choosing an engagement ring or a special anniversary ring, I ensure that the result will exceed their expectations. I also think customers like the fact that we can source interesting and dynamic cuts. For example, we introduced the Inferno Cut diamond which took three years from design to manufacture. The stone which is cut as a square or rectangle has 81 facets which increases its sparkle by up to 40%. We also sourced the beautiful Trillion cut diamond solitaire, from the same diamond cutters, from which we have created a unique engagement ring which is absolutely stunning and has to be seen to be fully appreciated.
What can customers expect to pay?
I can work to most budgets and if customers want something really special, I can always source the perfect diamond as I have a diamond partner that I work closely with in Antwerp. Platinum continues to follow the fashion trend for white metal and is without doubt the metal of choice for Engagement rings and wedding rings. If a tight budget demands cost cutting then the man's wedding ring can now be produced in palladium, it looks like platinum, now carries a hallmark, and is more affordable than what was the previous less expensive alternative, white gold.
What else do you offer?
We've gained a reputation over the years for our ability to repair and prolong the life of old and antique pieces of jewellery and when these pieces cannot be repaired, I can often re-design the piece using the original gemstones. Also when gemstones are lost we are able to source the necessary replacements.
