RYDER CUP FEVER COMES EARLY AT
CELTIC MANOR

Enjoy all the excitement of September showdown at the next match venue

It may be another two years until The Celtic Manor Resort stages The Ryder Cup but there will be plenty of excitement at the next host venue during this year’s match in Kentucky.

While some of the world’s best golfers go head-to-head at Valhalla from September 19-21, the five-star resort in South Wales will be the best place to watch the action from America.

A sporting atmosphere with a transatlantic theme will be generated at the resort for this year’s event by big screens, flags and banners, themed food and cocktails, and live music featuring the sound of the American South.

If any more incentive was needed to feel a part of the big event then every visitor will also have the opportunity to enter a free prize draw to win a pair of tickets to The Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in 2010.

The time difference between the United Kingdom and the United States also means golfers can play a round during the morning on one of Celtic Manor’s three championship courses and then settle back to view one of sport’s most captivating contests in the afternoon and late into the evening.

Many people have already booked in to enjoy a Stay, Play and Cheer Away luxury break over the Ryder Cup weekend, including a round on the prestigious Twenty Ten course which has been purpose-built to stage The Ryder Cup in 2010, but the Resort is also opening its doors to non-residents as well.

People from the surrounding area are being invited to join in the fun by visiting for a meal or a drink and feel a part of the buzz as Celtic Manor prepares to be handed the baton from Valhalla as the next venue for the prestigious biennial match between Europe and America.

The Celtic Manor Resort has five restaurants including dining options in both of its large and luxurious clubhouses. There are also six bars which will all have big screens beaming in every putt as it drops in Kentucky.

“The countdown starts here for us as the next venue for The Ryder Cup,” said Dylan Matthews, Chief Executive of The Celtic Manor Resort.

“There is going to be an enormous interest in watching this year’s event on television and what better place to see the golf than the venue for the 2010 match where we are going to create a real buzz around this year’s event.

“We have lots of people staying here to feel part of the action but we are also inviting people from the local area to come and join in the fun, to get a taste for what a big event they are going to be a part of in 2010.”

Among those staying and playing golf over The Ryder Cup weekend will be a group of four American and four European journalists contesting an alternative Writer Cup.

A delegation of Celtic Manor management will also be travelling to Louisville and the Valhalla course during the tournament for a fact-finding mission to ensure they host the best possible event in 2010.
