| Perspective – A New Opera.
“The Piccadilly Line Travels from North to South, at approximately 80mph – And doesn’t stop.
11:00am – The peak time. The station is evacuated. The police arrive.”
The story of a young woman’s journey from 10:45 to 11:00amis the premise of a new opera to be premiered in Cardiff at the end of April. Perspective, a completely original opera by the Cardiff- based composer Chris Petrie and writer Gareth Aled Williams, can be seen Cardiff’s The Gate, Keppoch Street, on Thursday 30th April at 8pm.
The composer Chris Petrie said, “The music reflects Gareth’s poetic narrative and moves through irony, absurdity and, ultimately, tragedy.”
The piece will be sung by Rhiannon Llewellyn, a young soprano studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Alasdair Cowie-Fraser will conduct the chamber orchestra. This opera will be accompanied by some chamber pieces also written by Chris Petrie.
Tickets are priced at £5 (£3 concessions including students) More details are available from either www.thegate.org.uk or from the Box Office on 02920 483344.
