NEW HEAD CHEF SERVES UP CULINARY DELIGHTS AT VALE RESORT
The Vale Resort, nr Cardiff, has announced the appointment of James Bumpass as its new Head Chef of its 143-bedroom hotel, 700-seat Conference facility, restaurants & champagne bar and award-winning golf, leisure, spa and sports facilities.
James will actively oversee the Resort’s popular AA rosette ‘La Cucina’ restaurant and the recently opened Vale Bar and Grill, along with ensuring the success of the Resort’s busy conferencing and private dining business.
James was previously Sous Chef at the double AA Rosette, 4-star Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa in Newbury, Berkshire, which was named the AA Hotel of the Year England in 2007/08. He also honed his culinary talents at the exclusive 5-star boutique hotel, The Vineyard at Stockcross with its 2 Michelin-starred restaurant.
Reporting directly to General Manager, Ben Danielsen, James will be re-styling menus at the Vale’s two restaurants with a renewed focus on high quality ingredients and the creation of superb flavours. He will also continue the hotel’s emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients.
James said: “We already have a highly talented and hard working team at the Vale and I intend to develop this to ensure that we take our food standards up to a whole new level of excellence. Whether diners eat at our Mediterranean inspired La Cucina, or the new Vale Bar and Grill, or even private functions or weddings, every detail needs to be right to ensure a fine dining experience for all our guests.
“I firmly believe that for food to be served at its very best it needs to be local, seasonal and cooked with respect and a little imagination.”
