LLANDAFF
The Cathedral School
looks to a bright future
Top GCSE results, opportunities
for leadership, high attainment in
sport and outstanding music can
all be achieved at The Cathedral
School Llandaff.
Pupils have the support of well
qualified specialists to enthuse them in
their learning. Through the school's house system, they develop leadership skills and involvement in the school community and beyond. The strong Christian ethos permeates all aspects of the school, manifesting itself in exceptional pastoral care and an emphasis upon a social and moral conscience.
This year's GCSE results once again prove the investment parents have made in The Cathedral School: 100% achieving 7+ GCSEs at A*- C and 63% of grades at A* or A. Financial support is available for bright pupils between the ages of 11-16. There are scholarships for especially gifted children - academic, music, sport - plus means tested bursaries worth up to 100% of fees. The school provides 40 choristers to Llandaff Cathedral, twenty boys and twenty girls, and there are significant choral scholarships available.
With 650 pupils, aged 3-16, the school is small enough to ensure that everyone is known and cared for, yet large enough to offer a real breadth of challenge and opportunity. Pupils benefit from the advantages of co-education, both academically and socially, with boys and girls feeling comfortable and confident in each other's presence.
The school looks confidently to the future; a new sports pavilion and a refurbished library opened this term and ambitious development plans have been announced for further expansion to sixth form. School transport was introduced for the first time in September, enabling pupils to be bussed in along routes starting in Cowbridge, Castleton, Caerphilly, Llantrisant and Barry. Working parents are helped by wrap-around care available daily from 8am-6pm.
