The Celtic Manor's Forum Spa and Ocius Treatment Rooms certainly contribute to the hotel's worldwide reputation for high quality. City Life talks to Spa Manager Marieke Teagle
IT'S TIME TO SPA
What's your role at the Celtic Manor, Marieke?
I am the Spa Manager and manage both the Forum Spa at the main resort and Ocius Treatment Rooms at The Lodge.
How long have you been working there?
I joined the resort in 2008 and I absolutely love every minute of my extremely varied role!
What branded products are used at the spa?
Prior to joining Celtic Manor Resort, I worked for Harvey Nichols for five years as International Sales Manager for beauty. I have always had a great love and passion for the industry and worked very closely with some fantastic luxury leading brands. My decisions on what brands to bring into both spas therefore was quite easy. I made the decision almost a year ago after reviewing several spa and beauty brands to become a sole brand Elemis Spa, something which has meant that we are busier than we have ever been!
My relationship with Elemis began some time ago when they launched their first retail site within Harvey Nichols, Manchester and I have worked with them ever since. They are fantastic and the leading luxury British spa and skincare brand favoured by as many as 5.7 million spa-goers per year.
Nailcare
To complement our brand portfolio, I also wanted to bring another British brand to the mix and, again, as I had worked for many years with Leighton Denny, this was my number one nailcare choice. Leighton Denny is the award-winning and creative dynamo behind the highly successful Leighton Denny Expert Nails range which brings the variety and choice of products our spa-goers are looking for.
Makeup
As Leighton Denny works so closely with this next brand, it was the perfect choice of makeup brand - Daniel Sandler, one of the most successful makeup artists in the UK, launched a fabulous range that simplifies stunning red carpet makeup into looks for everyday wear, perfect as a finishing touch after a rejuvenating spa day! And finally, St Tropez which ensures our spa guests get a natural-looking self tan, not a fake tan!
Who are your clients and where do your clients come from?
Our spa guests come to us from far and wide looking for that something extra special. Whether it be a couple on a romantic getaway, a group of ladies on a hen weekend, a mother and daughter spending some quality time together or golfers relaxing with a massage after a long day on the golf courses, we have packages and treatments that cater for every individual.
Why do you think that clients come to Celtic Manor Spa?
The Forum Spa has a worldwide reputation and has recently been nominated for Conde Nast's Top 10 Worldwide Spas. We received great praise and acclaim from our Ryder Cup Ladies Spa day and have since been requested on many occasions.
What's the most popular treatment?
Our most popular treatments are undoubtedly the Elemis Herbal Steam Temple, our Forum Signature Massage and the Elemis Face and Body Sensation.
Can you cater for groups?
We cater for all groups and sizes from corporate groups, ladies days, hen parties and private bookings. Our facilities are so extensive that we can squeeze any size of party in!
