Does that longevity matter I ask? "Well yes it does. If you buy off a company that's gone out of business in six months' time and there's a problem, you'll be left holding a pretty useless cord," says Huw. "As Wales' premier blind company we pride ourselves on offering a quality range of products at a fair price."
Solar might not be the cheapest blinds on the market, but it's clear that they take quality, customer service and safety very seriously and it's probably why customers seem to recommend them so highly. "We're a real manufacturer," says Huw proudly.
"We're not agents just sending orders off to big factories outside Wales. We employ over thirty people in Bridgend and that's so important to the local economy. If you buy from Solar you know your money is being spent locally."
Solar make an amazing range of products: from roller blinds right through to conservatory blinds and, with their Perfect Fit system, no drilling or screwing is required to fix the blinds to windows. "Our plantation shutters and motorised blinds are also becoming extremely popular with customers wanting a dramatic change of style and ease of use," says Huw.
Back in March, Solar launched its new 'Inspirations' range which, the company claims, contains their best collection of fabrics ever - with brand new designs, textures and a colour palette that couldn't be more on trend if it tried - simply stunning. "We're not expensive," says Huw. "Solar is affordable and, more importantly, if there ever is a problem, we'll always be here to sort it out."
Commercial customers aren't left out either. With Solar's superb range of awnings and blinds, there's no excuse for any business to be put in the shade by the competition. "Commercial customers are our most demanding," says Huw. "If our quality is good enough for them, that speaks volumes."
