I never get tired of Tenby. If we're looking for a quick weekend away or week break, West Wales is always high on the list of destinations. Why? Quite simply because it's so close. An hour and a half and you're in a completely different world.
A QUICK GETAWAY
Always looking for a new place to try, we discovered Northbeach online. Situated within the walls of historic Tenby, Northbeach is two beach-front apartments (Lux and Loft) in a beautiful converted Regency townhouse. It enjoys sensational views over the beautiful North beach and harbour.
Both apartments enjoy luxurious contemporary styling. We stayed in the Lux on the second floor; the Loft is on the third but both are decorated and furnished to the very highest standard.
The Lux sleeps four and has:
■ Large living space and kitchen
■ Double bedroom with ensuite shower
■ Twin room
■ Bathroom with shower
■ Log-burning stove
■ Large flat screen TV and DVD player
■ Dishwasher
■ Washing machine
Northbeach also has its own off-street parking at the rear of the property and, for the adventurous, a kayak for hire (subject to availability). This is a superb base to explore West Wales and there are plenty of restaurants and places to visit in and around Tenby if you fancy a walk. Further afield, Pembrokeshire has masses to offer the keen explorer so you won't be spoilt for choice.
Dixe Wills of the Guardian says of Northbeach, "Sleek minimalism is the order of the day here. And woodburning stoves. And massive clocks. There are cracking views of Carmarthen Bay and a kayak thrown in too. Is it Tenby or not Tenby? That is the question."
