How long have you worked at The Ski Lodge?
Since the winter of 2001, so getting on for 8 years now!
What’s your role there?
My role is Designer and Marketing Manager
How long have you been snowboarding?
I started boarding back when I was in school... that’s a while now, around 15 years or so.
Did the sport come before the job or vice versa?
Well in light of the above question, the sport definitely came before the job! You really have to be an active skier or snowboarder to work in this industry.
How does your love of your sport help with the job?
It certainly makes a day in the office more enjoyable when you have a true passion for what you do. Wintersports is a great industry to be working in with very like-minded people.
If you could do any other job, what would it be?
Astronaut, pilot, rockstar… no, The Ski Lodge is a pretty perfect place for me to be as it allows me to indulge in my two main passions of snowboarding and design. I occasionally get the chance to escape in the summer and do some surfing which is good for morale.

Zack Starke of The Ski Lodge talks to City Life
How long have you worked at The Ski Lodge?
I first walked through the Lodge doors twelve years ago.
What’s your role there?
I am The Ski Lodge Store Manager
How long have you been skiing?
Well, I’ve skied from a young age, that’s going back a good few years now, nearly 30 years I would say.
Did the sport come before the job or vice versa?
As with Jason, the sport was definitely something I enjoyed before even considering a career in snowsports
How does your love of your sport help with the job?
A genuine passion for the mountains and snowsports is a vital part of my role as store manager. Projecting a true love of the sport on the shopfloor enhances our customers experience in the store.
If you could do any other job, what would it be?
It’s got to be right here at The Lodge. It’s great to interact with colleagues and customers daily, who all share a common passion for the mountains. There can’t be too many roles out there that you get to talk about your favourite sport all day long with people who love it as much as you!
