Cowbridge based Room for Living’s reputation for high quality kitchen design stretches far beyond the Vale. We visit Mr and Mrs Withnall at their beautiful Newport home to see the workmanship and to find out how they were living with their new kitchen.

ROOM FOR LIVING

After already having three quotations from other companies for a complete kitchen and utility refit, it was on a chance visit to Cowbridge that Mr and Mrs Withnall of Newport happened upon Room for Living’s showroom and, after a consultation with Ian, the company’s designer, they realised that their new kitchen would be in safe hands.

Did you have a specific brief to give Room for Living?
We were open to suggestions, but required more preparation space and a central island. We also wanted a larger gas hob, which was changed (after we visited Miele), to a four ring induction hob. We liked the idea of a water filter system and my husband had always wanted a wine cooler.

Why did you choose them?

The conceptual layout of the kitchen was attractive to us, with the added bonus of having the kitchen/dining room door moved, allowing for a longer run of units. Room for Living were the only company to suggest this approach.

The other kitchen companies hadn’t proposed this. This vastly improved the look of the dining room also. Room for Living invited us to visit the Miele Centre to help us decide on which appliances would suit us best.

What did you want your kitchen to say about you?
We didn’t want a traditional country cottage look, but equally we didn’t want an ultra modern, streamlined look. We were aiming for something in the middle, giving clean lines and a light painted wood finish.

What were your key requirements?
We wanted convenient cooking and preparation areas, and also an eating area for four. We were keen to find alternative cooking methods through state of the art cooking appliances.

Did Room for Living offer ideas which were helpful?
Yes, they also gave us plenty of information on internal fitments.

How was the installation process?
I wasn’t looking forward to the disruption but Room for Living were extremely efficient, clean and also extremely courteous.

Are you happy with the finished product?
Absolutely... particularly so with the Miele appliances.

Would you recommend Room For Living to friends and family?
We already did at the onset of design! We recommended them to a neighbour and they installed their kitchen at the same time.

With over twenty years’ experience, Room For Living cater for all tastes and styles, from classical and traditional hand painted, to the latest cutting-edge and contemporary designs.

The company have now added the outstanding kitchen and appliance manufacturer Miele as its flagship product and is proud to be the only Miele dealership in Wales.

Room For Living is the port of call when choosing a company to design the most important room in your home, the kitchen.
